Title:159 - U.S.S. "Hartford"

The USS HARTFORD, launched 22 November 1858 and commissioned 27 May 1859, was a "screw sloop of war." She was 220' long, 44' wide, with a speed of 13.5 knots. She carried 42 guns, with a crew of 304, officers and enlisted. During the Civil War she served as flagship for Flag Officer David G. Farragut, the commander of the West Gulf Blockading Squadron.

The recto carries the printed text, "Entered according to Act of Congress, November 10th, 1864, by McPherson & Oliver, in the clerks office of the District Court of the U. S., for the Eastern District of Louisiana. The verso inscribed, "Hartford."
