Portrait of Brigadier General Christopher Columbus Andrews (1829-1922), an American soldier, diplomat, newspaperman, author, and forester. He was elected to the Minnesota State Senate, and was instrumental in establishing a newspaper, the Minnesota Union, supporting the policies of President Abraham Lincoln, for which he served as editor before enlisting in the Union Army. Andrews attained the rank of brigadier general and was brevetted major general. After the war he continued his life in politics.
