Portrait of Louis Addison Grant (1828-1918), a teacher, lawyer, and a brigadier general in the Union Army. He received the Medal of Honor for "personal gallantry and intrepidity." After the war he was Assistant U.S. Secretary of War during President Benjamin Harrison's administration.
