This leather-bound account book has a worn front cover with undecipherable writing at the top and "Cadet O. M. Poe. Sept (?) 1852" written in the center. On top left corner of the inside front cover is a stamp that reads: Sold by David Felt, Stationers Hall, 176 Pearl St, N. York. Pasted in the center inside cover is a piece of paper, handwritten in ink: "21 August 1852, Rec of Cadet Orlando Poe Eighty two dollars 50/100 for St R S Smith, P O Maker. $82.50." The account book has the running title "Cadet Poe in Account Current with the Treasurer of the Military Academy." Preprinted on the left pages is a list of items such as band fund; board; washing; barber, shoe-blacking and varnishing, and baths. The entries begin Aug 21, 1852 and end 1st May '56. Title supplied by cataloger.
