Letter from Robert C. Caldwell to his wife Mag Caldwell. Robert is serving as a private in Company C., 10th Battalion, North Carolina Heavy Artillery near Wilmington, N.C. Robert writes that he had a cold, wet trip back to camp after his furlough home. He is well but there is one case of smallpox in his unit. He gives Mag advice on how to plant the corn.
