Letter from Robert C. Caldwell to his wife Mag Caldwell. Robert is serving as a private in Company C., 10th Battalion, North Carolina Heavy Artillery near Wilmington, N.C. Robert tells Mag he received the letter from Dr. Houston concerning his sick mother. He says he would like to see his mother and that she may be on her last days. He writes that he does not think he will get permission to come home and see her and that "the Lords will be done." He says it has been very cold and they have had snow and ice.
