In his letter, possibly dated 1856, from Selma, [Alabama] to his wife Callie King, daughter of Joseph Henry Lumpkin, Porter King, lawyer, future judge and Perry County representative to the Alabama legislature, talks of missing her and their son, Paul. King informs Callie that he is on his way to the home of his father, Edwin D. King, and that the weather is bad for travelling.
