Title:Letter: to Callie [King], 1856 Nov. 1
Description:

Porter King, lawyer, future judge and Perry County representative to the Alabama legislature, writes a letter dated November 1, 1856 from the courthouse, to his wife Callie King, daughter of Joseph Henry Lumpkin, thanking her for the letters she sent him. He expresses his delight that their son, Joseph Henry King, is recovering and his desire to be with them. King reports to Callie that he had dinner at Aunt Ruthy's. He tells her that he has just finished a long speech for his flat boat cases, and that he is uncertain of winning the cases.
