Letter dated January 2, 1852 from Porter King, lawyer, future judge and Perry County representative to the Alabama legislature, to Callie Lumpkin, daughter of Joseph Henry Lumpkin and King's future wife. King writes to Callie about his deep love for her. Away attending a legislative session, he also states that he cannot wait to get home in order to announce their engagement.
