These are the typed transcriptions of the letters (1861-1863) of Hannah Williams Starr and Elijah Fletcher Starr, written by Starr while serving with the 24th Georgia Infantry Regiment. Starr grew up in White County, Georgia and later practiced medicine in Rome, Georgia. He married Hannah Williams of Nacoochee, Georgia, in 1846. During the Civil War he served as surgeon of the 24th Georgia Infantry Regiment in North Carolina and Virginia.
